Pitch Expectations
Writing is a developmental skill and so our 3rd graders need a lot of guidance and support. I have given the kiddos the tools to help them through this process, but the amount of time I get with them is not enough. The kiddos know what is needed in their pitch and wrote what they could, but they need help making it flow.
Display Board Expectations:
I sent an email awhile back explaining some options for boards. This display board is really a way for kids to draw people in. It should be aesthetically appealing. It must have their logo. Kiddos can decide what other items they would like to include such as: Pictures, App "Screen Shots", Statistics, Graphics or Charts, Problem, Solution... The larger the board the more you have add to it. Of course, something too small isn't encouraged. Here are some suggestions...

Again, these are suggestions. Please figure the best option for your kiddo. It would be nice for kiddos to come to class with this completed. I totally understand the printer and ink issue. Unfortunately I'm also limited on my color copies here at school. I can only print your child's logo in color and of course anything that is black and white. I can help kiddos arrange items on their board, but they must have all items they want on their board already color printed in their binder and black and white items need to be in their Google Drive and I can print those here. Next week we won't have time to create something for their board. These things MUST be completed before next's weeks ALPHA class time. Please don't have kiddo write directly on board or on paper and then glued on...everything should be typed! (Please use Google Docs using your kiddos NISD account...this just makes things much easier for everyone. BTW your kiddos are becoming Google Pros...proud of them!)
Next Week's ALPHA Class Goals:
- Create Presentation Notecards - print, glue on construction paper and attach on ring
- Mini Lesson -Do's and Don't's for public speaking
- Presentation Peer Reviews - Students will be kind, be specific and be helpful in critiquing each others presentations. (we did the same with the prototypes)
In order to get these things accomplished in class it's important that kiddos come to class prepared. We will do the above activities before anything is done to individual boards...the more accomplished at home the better!
Thank you for all your support! It's been a joy to see many of my kiddos really grow as leaders, going above and beyond, and really taking ownership in their learning. It hasn't always been easy, but watching them grow and shine makes it all worth it...It's a proud momma moment! ;)
