Our Learning Goals - Week of September 28 - October 2
- Investigate and draw conclusions about Mesopotamian life.
- Evaluate the contributions made by the Mesopotamian civilization.
- Understand the chronological organization of history and know how to organize events and people into major eras to identify and explain historical relationships.
- Understand that societies are diverse and have changed over time
Visual Thinking Routine: Tug-A-War
Students were required to determine and rank the most important to least important Mesopotamian invention. Then, we discussed the Content Imperative Icon: Contribution - the significant part or result of an idea or event, and the Depth and Complexity Icon: Changes over Time. This required students to change their perspective and consider the importance of these inventions to today's society.
This changed everything!!! Students had to reevaluate, justify, and determine the importance (from least to greatest) of these inventions. Amazing thinking happened!!!
Mesopotamian Invention - Soap
Although, students determined that soap was the least important invention (based off the 6 we looked at in class) we decided to create soap in class. We discussed the history of soap and how it has changed over time.
Multiple Intelligence
My students who are Body Smart (Bodily - Kinesthetic) created a dance routine to a song about Mesopotamia. So Fun!
