Our learning goals for the week of September 26th - 30th:
- Analyze how pictures and drawings help convey significant ideas.
- Make connections between pictures and symbols.
- Compare changes over time: Cave Art (past) vs. Graffiti (present).
- Understand Howard Gardner's 8 Multiple Intelligences.
- Discover personal learning strengths and preferences. It's not, " How smart are you?", but rather, "How are you smart?"
- Create symbols to express our passion or learning strengths.

In a nutshell: MI theory claims that there are many ways to be smart and that those abilities are expressed in our performances, products, and ideas.
Benefits:
- It provides opportunities in the classroom for authentic learning based on student's needs, interests and talents.
- It allows our classroom to act like the "real" world: the author and the illustrator of a book are equally valuable creators.
- Kiddos become more active, involved learners.
- When learning is done in a way that a child learns best, then they are more willing to face possible challenges along the way. Challenge = Growth
- It allows me (the teacher) to better understand and best teach your child.
- It allows the child to be more cognizant of their own learning preferences and styles.
