This week students were expected to...
- Understand the importance of the Design Process.
- Apply the design process in order to create a structure.
- Employ collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and communication to successfully solve the challenge.
Each week I have objectives that I am expected to teach, and I teach them, but I always want my kiddos to walk out of my classroom understanding the bigger picture. I tend to go beyond the objective by applying the big ideas.
This week we really focused on the word: PROCESS. This is what kiddos learned....
This week we really focused on the word: PROCESS. This is what kiddos learned....
- Process is found across disciplines...math, science, writing....
- Process makes thinking visible...it allows use to find our mistakes or the various ways we can get to the same answer.
- Process changes our thinking/perspective over time. I use to think..., but now I think...because I went through the process.
- Process isn't always easy.
- Process is part of learning. We can't learn and grow without going through some sort of process.
- Process often times looks like this....
We then went on to discuss how ENGINEERS use a DESIGN PROCESS.
Students were given this challenge....
